Where I was born: I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii at Tripler Army Medical Center. I grew up in the military and spent time in Hawaii, Virginia, Washington DC, England, and Florida. After spending many years near Tampa, Florida my family moved to Colorado in 2011.

Hobbies: I enjoy being outdoors hiking. I am a runner and have completed 10 marathons. I enjoy geocaching, a hide and seek activity using GPS. I have found geocaches in 44 states and 8 countries. During school breaks, my family enjoys traveling and camping. We have explored 35 of our National Parks and many more national monuments, historic sites, preserves, memorials, forests, seashores, and lakeshores. I have been fortunate to visit all 50 states. Since moving to Colorado I have taken up skiing.

Family: I am blessed to be in the company of my wife and two sons. This year we sent our oldest off to college

Pets: We have our wonderful cat Kit Kat who tolerates us.

Favorite Things: Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, brown paper packages tied up with string.

Favorite book/author: The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

Favorite Quote: “A person’s a person, no matter how small.” Theodor Geisel

Why I love being a Wildcat:  I love helping kids achieve more than they ever have before. I love building positive relationships and empowering students by helping them realize that their choices help to shape their lives.

Things that motivate you, excite you about learning: As a learner I am excited about learning how the world works and making connections with the past. I love to learn new things that I did not know before. We live in a time that world’s amassed knowledge is available to anyone with an internet connection. How exciting is that?

I am motivated by the influential impact of meeting students’ needs and delivering specialized instruction based on the root cause of learning difficulties.

Unified Job Description

My job is to accelerate learning for every APS student, every day. I do my job by building meaningful relationships with students and their families, knowing my learners through authentic assessments, and providing specialized instruction based on student need. My community needs me to do my job.
